100km in a day keeps the abusers away

We are back at it again! Last year we managed to raise over $6000 from our fundraising page and cash donations for the Interval House of Hamilton while Bryan attempted to walk 100km from Burlington to the CN Tower and back in 24 hours. Our goal was initially $2000 and we blew it out of the water. Let’s make the goal this year $10,000.

Created using the Donation Thermometer plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/donation-thermometer/.$10,000Raised $3,220 towards the $10,000 target.$3,220Raised $3,220 towards the $10,000 target.32%

We can do it. If this is your first time here, these are the reasons I am taking on this challenge:

Interval House will always have a soft spot in my heart, as that is where my mother, sister and I spent some time living on the east coast. I watched my mother overcome a terrible marriage over the course of 7 years, and when she had finally had the courage to leave, she woke my sister and I in the middle of night. She had packed a garbage bag full of clothes for each of us, and we began the long walk to the nearest corner store to call a taxi to get us to the city. The walk was 6km down a long, dark country road. It may have well been 25km as I was an 80lb 11 year old boy dragging a bag of belongings.

This 100km walk is dedicated to the women and families that were brave enough to walk away, and hopefully it will also give courage to women that feel stuck in abusive relationships, and let them know that there is a safe place to go, where you will not only be supported while you are there, but also be given the tools needed to be successful on your own.
